Apple have opened up the Movies section in the South African iTunes Store. Interestingly they have called it “Films.” We are not sure if this is significant or not.

Most of the Movies are Disney Production and we all know that Apple and Disney have a strong relationship after Steve Jobs sold Pixar to Disney and become the biggest shareholder with 7%.

The pricing seems reasonable with the buying of HD and SD at an exchange rate of about $1=R8, when compared to the US iTuens Store. The renting of movies however is a different story with the rate at about $1=R10.

No one expect the prices to be better but we have to say that it is still a better option to get a US iTunes account. The number of movies in limited in the SA iTunes Store unlike the US iTunes Store.
