It has been hard to find information on the iphone the last few months as Apple have been very quiet. This may be due to the fact that they updated their whole product line in the last half of last year. There have been trickles of news but very little to talk about.

Recently however there has been some news the the iPhone 5 and the next two iPhones were created under Steve Jobs leadership. In fact the iPhone 5 has said to have been produced before Steve Jobs passed away.

Today the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple has begun production of what is said to be the iPhone 5s and it is expected to launch during the South African winter which would most likely during the WWDC in June.

They also reported that Apple is working on a cheaper iPhone which is expected to launch in the second half of this year. The low cost iPhone is expected to be the same form as the iPhone 5 but with a plastic multicolour casing.

Would you recommend buying an iphone now considering there might be a new one released soon?

I wonder why apple always names the second installment of same iphone (with little upgrades) as xS. why don't they simply go to the next generation of mobiles. like iphone 3,4,5 nothing G or S in between. Perhaps some kind of marketing strategy.

    Hi Yasir

The iPhone 3Gs was the first version and the "s" stands for "speed." The iPhone 4s was the next version and the "s" stood for "Siri." We don’t believe it is a marketing effort but rather an indication of a minor upgrade to the original version. The iPhone 3Gs was the same as the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 4s was the same as the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5s is expected to be the same as the iPhone 5.
